Diria es una cebra que ha quedado en orfandad y que vive en el Parque Nacional Tsavo East, de Kenia.
Su mamá murió en un ataque por leones. Y entonces la pequeña fue rescatada y puesta a resguardo de la Unidad de Reintegración Voi de Sheldrick Wildfire Trust. Ahí un guardaparques se ha encargado de cuidarla y alimentarla.
Pero la pequeña, necesitaba de un vínculo maternal, las cebras se crían al lado de su madre por un lapso de un año. Con ello, al cuidador se le ocurrió vestirse con un traje que asemeja la piel de las cebras.
Con este camuflaje, Diria se acerca de manera confiada a su cuidador y se deja asear y alimentar con el amor que necesita. Ella lo identifica como su mamá.
La idea es ayudar a Diria a llegar a una edad madura, que le permita sobrevivir en la sabana africana y que pueda desarrollar hábitos en libertad. ¡No cabe duda que esta técnica le está funcionando!
