Luto en Birmania: tragedia en mina de jadeíta.
Por lo menos 162 personas es lo que las autoridades del distrito minero de Hpakant, en el estado de Kachin, Birmania han contabilizado luego del alud de lodo dejó enterrados a mineros que extraían la gema preciosa de jadeíta.
Esta tragedia se suma a las ya antes sucedidas en el país birmano, en donde la extracción minera se realiza sin autorización de las autoridades de gobierno y en donde el año pasado fallecieron 54 personas que se dedicaban a la extracción ilegal de gemas.
La tragedia ocurrió durante un lluvia intensa que reblandeció el suelo de la ladera en que se encuentra la mina, y con ello, el peso del lodo provocó un efecto de avalancha que dejó enterrados a los mineros.
Por el momento, Shwe Thein, Administrador del Distrito, ha contabilizado de manera oficial a 162 personas fallecidas y 40 heridos, dijo a la agencia de noticias EFE.
La tragedia enluta al territorio birmano que por más de 17 años ha vivido rodeado de acciones belicosas del conflicto guerrillero y que recientemente se había logrado un tratado de paz con el gobierno y los habitantes del territorio.
