Esta luna llena, marca el inicio del último cuarto de la fase lunar que termina entre la madrugada y la mañana del 11 de agosto.
Además, el 11 de agosto tendremos en el cielo la presencia de las Lágrimas de San Lorenzo, las estrellas perseidas que harán su presentación por algunos días de este mes.
A la luna llena del mes de agosto se le conoce Luna de Esturión por el gran número de estos enormes peces de agua dulce que se encontraban en los lagos y ríos de América del Norte en este momento del año.
Otros nombres que recibe esta luna llena es: Luna de Grano, Luna de Maíz Verde, Luna de Fruta, y Luna de Cebada. Todos son nombres de cultivos que pueden ser cosechados durante el mes de agosto.
