La «Puerta del Infierno» se hace cada vez más grande, afirman científicos.
Se está profundizando un enorme cráter en Siberia, Rusia, conocido como la puerta del infierno, que ha revelado deshielo del permafrost, cadáveres de animales y restos de bosques antiguos que los científicos creen podrían ayudarnos a comprender mejor el cambio climático.
Situado cerca de la cuenca del río Yana, a unos 660 km al noreste de la ciudad de Yakutsk, el cráter Batagaika es el más grande de su tipo, y mide 1 km de largo por 50 m de profundidad.
Sin embargo, se está descongelando rápidamente, lo que significa que el gran espacio se está profundizando a un ritmo alarmante y podría causar estragos en asentamientos cercanos.
