Brote de brucelosis en China: biofarmacéutica infecta a 3,000 personas.
Autoridades sanitarias de la provincia de Gansu, en China, dieron a conocer que un total de 3,245 personas han dado positivo a brucelosis. Lo anterior, como causa de una fuga que una compañía biofarmacéutica tuvo el año pasado.
Derivado de esto más de 21,000 pobladores han sido sometidos a pruebas para descartar la enfermedad. La Comisión de Salud de Lanzhou, informó que varias personas presentaron síntomas como fiebre, dolores musculares y malestar corporal.
Por este motivo, el Gobierno designó un total de 11 establecimientos de salud pública, en donde aplican pruebas gratuitas y tratamiento contra la enfermedad.
El incidente se produjo debido a que la fábrica utilizó un desinfectante caducado para el proceso de producción de una vacuna contra la Brucellla para uso animal.
Esto genero que el gas residual, contaminado con las bacterias, se haya esparcido en forma de aerosoles por el sudeste de la región. Asimismo, los primeros casos del brote fueron reportados en noviembre del año pasado.
Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud, la brucelosis es una enfermedad causada por la bacteria Brucella, que infecta principalmente al ganado vacuno, porcino, caprino, ovino y a los perros. Dicha bacteria puede ser transmitida de animales a humanos.
Ya ha sido revocada la licencia a dicho laboratorio, quien se habría disculpado este año. Los pacientes recibirán una compensación económica a partir de octubre, señalaron las autoridades de Lanzhou.
