COFEPRIS México alerta brote de Salmonella en duraznos.
La Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios, Cofepris por sus siglas, alertó a la población mexicana sobre un brote de salmonella, infección asociada al consumo de durazno de la empresa exportadora Prima Wawona.
La institución informó que a finales de agosto se habían identificado 78 casos de un brote de infecciones por Salmonella enteritidis asociadas al consumo de durazno (melocotón), 12 de ellos en territorio norteamericano.
La notificación, expedida por la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de EE.UU., FDA por sus siglas en inglés, y por los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades en Estados Unidos, CDC, alertaba respecto a una investigación que incluía la inmovilización en el mercado para la venta de duraznos de la empresa Prima Wawona.
Según la FDA, el producto contaminado podría haber ingresado a diversos países, entre ellos México, mediante el programa de exportación a libres fronteras.
Por lo que la Cofepris emitió un comunicado dirigidos a las Centrales de Abasto, pidiendo la suspensión de venta del producto, aunque hasta el momento no se ha detectado caso de Salmonella en la población por consumo de durazno.
La Cofepris fue notificada por la FDA que la empresa que retiró voluntariamente sus productos del mercado por posible contaminación. También indicó que la investigación sobre posibles brotes continuará, con el objetivo de proteger la salud de la población.
