En Octubre la «Luna Azul» dará esplendor a la tradición del «Día de Muertos».
El 31 de octubre, justo en vísperas de la celebración tradicional del “Día de Muertos” en México, podremos disfrutar el esplendor de la “Luna Azul”.
Conocida así por la definición otorgada por James Hugh Pruett, en la década de los años 40´s del siglo XX, debido a que el mes de octubre goza por tener dos lunas llenas.
Él se refirió a la segunda luna llena dentro de un mismo mes como “luna azul”, y a pesar de su nombre, el color que proyecta es exactamente igual que el de la luna llena.
Raras veces se ha podido observar el tono azul proyectado en la luna y ha sido principalmente por eventos naturales. Uno de ellos en el año 1883, tras la erupción del volcán Krakatoa, en Indonesia.
En 1980, en Estados Unidos, tras la erupción del Monte Santa Helena. Y existen algunas referencias de lunas azules en México en 1983, tras la erupción del volcán El Chichonal, en el estado de Chiapas.
Sin embargo para los grupos originarios, la Luna llena de octubre se le conoce como “Luna de Maíz” o “Luna de la Cebada”. Anuncia el inicio del otoño y la época de cosecha de cultivos.
La Luna llena de septiembre comenzará antes este año. La NASA indicó que por primera vez en tres años, la Luna Azul se elevará este mes y será reconocida como la “Luna del Maíz”.
Por ese motivo, en octubre la Luna llena, se le denominará “Luna Azul” y podrá ser apreciada durante las festividades de Día de Muertos.
Así que gira la vista al cielo y prepárate para su esplendor.
