¡Inicia la cuenta regresiva! El Reloj Climático es una ALERTA para los GOBIERNOS.
El Climate Clock, por su nombre en inglés, o bien el Reloj Climático por su traducción en español, se inauguró el sábado 19 de septiembre del 2020.
Ubicado en el edificio del Metrónomo del Union Square en Nueva York, es el primero en su instalación, de muchos otros que se ubicarán en diferentes ciudades del planeta.
Este reloj, es una manera de alertar a los gobiernos del mundo sobre la crisis climática que se está agravando, quedando un total de 7 años, 102 días y 12 horas.
Gan Golan, activista climático, dijo que el reloj nos dice que debemos actuar ahora. Tenemos poco más de 7 años para lograr una transición fundamental de nuestro sistema energético (…) para evitar que la temperatura aumente 1.5 grados, lo que los científicos han establecido como punto de no retorno.
El reloj indica el tiempo que le queda a la Tierra para realizar acciones contra el cambio climático. También es un llamado de atención a los habitantes de la Tierra e internautas.
El reloj ha sido graduado a manera de que marque una cuenta regresiva. Las pantallas del edificio fueron iluminadas con la frase: La Tierra tiene una fecha límite, y posteriormente aparecieron los números 7:103:15:40:07.
Esos números marcan los años, días, horas, minutos y segundos que tiene nuestro planeta antes de sufrir cambios irreversibles por el cambio climático.
El cálculo se realizó con ayuda del Instituto de Investigaciones de Mercator sobre Cambio Climático, ubicado en Berlín. Los creadores especificaron que la cuenta regresiva, cambia con cada segundo que pasa.
