Un fuerte incremento de casos en Hong Kong por el hongo Candida Auris pone en jaque a las autoridades de salud.
Las autoridades hospitalarias de Hong Kong, han emitido una advertencia debido al gran aumento de infecciones por una cepa de hongo superresistente de Candida auris este año.
Hay un total de 136 casos de infección por hongos solo este año, en comparación con solo 20 en todo 2019. Según el South China Morning Post, esta cepa también muestra signos de ser resistente a los medicamentos.

El doctor Raymond Lai, director de control de infecciones de Hong Kong, dijo que esperan controlar el hongo dentro de los hospitales y hogares de ancianos, para que no se propague a la comunidad.
