Lo que podemos aprender de la naturaleza parece que no tiene fin. Una investigación científica señala que las abejas “dibujan” las formas más bellas del mundo al construir sus panales.
La investigación afirma que la abeja de la especie Tetragonula carbonaria, endémica de Australia, construye los panales más complejos y especialmente bellos.
Sin tener un plano diseñado previamente, ni trabajar en coordinación las integrantes de la colonia, van diseñando formas geométricas casi perfectas.
Esta especie de abeja es trabajadora. No cuenta con aguijón, no coordina instrucciones con nadie y no trabaja en equipo.
Y lo curioso es que, su trabajo independiente le hace producir algunos de los panales más artísticos y complejos que pueden encontrarse en la naturaleza.
El modelo de construcción es muy similar al de formación de cristales según han comprobado los investigadores a partir de un modelo matemático.
Cada individuo, hace una toma de decisiones tras el análisis de lo que hace la abeja que tiene delante. Nadie le empuja ni le dice lo que tiene que hacer.
En la investigación publicada en Journal of the Royal Society Interface, los investigadores explican que han desarrollado un modelo matemático que explica cómo las abejas llegan a estos patrones sin necesidad de planificación ni coordinación entre iguales.
Tras examinar las estructuras y el orden que emerge en los panales, los científicos han encontrado un modelo que califican como de “complejidad mínima”, lo que permite a cada individuo trabajar con la información que extrae de, digamos, lo que tiene más próximo.
