Realizó un video en donde se aprecian burbujas blancas de metano atrapadas en el hielo recién formado.
Grabado en la región de Maloye More, un estrecho que separa la isla más grande del lago, Olkhon, de la orilla occidental del lago Baikal, el logro es sorprendente.
Lo anterior, porque no es algo que pueda verse todos los días.

La razón es que metano burbujea a través del agua clara y helada en el lago, y este haya quedado atrapado y congelado.

Este es el lago más profundo del mundo y el hielo cubre los estrechos menos profundos y las bahías comienzan a formarse a finales de noviembre.

Las burbujas de metano se congelan en capas una sobre otra y llegan a alcanzar profundidades de hasta 1.5 metros.
Este lago se caracteriza por no tener un fondo sólido, sino más bien es parecido a una ciénaga.
En él se han acumulado sedimentos que contienen gas, incluido el metano, durante millones de años.
Ahora los científicos monitorean el metano que se eleva del fondo del Baikal.
Analizan si este fenómeno se debe al calentamiento global, ya que creen que la temperatura no afecta directamente a las filtraciones de gas.
