Hasta el momento, se han contabilizado más de 4,700 ejemplares de tortugas marinas que están aturdidas por las gélidas temperaturas.
El rescate de tortugas marinas se tuvo que realizar de manera emergente porque están “paralizadas” como consecuencia de la tormenta invernal que azotó en las costas de Texas.
Acostumbradas las aguas cálidas del Golfo de México, las tortugas marinas quedaron un tanto aturdidas.
Se acercaron masivamente a la costa en busca de refugio contra la ola polar que cubre gran parte de Texas.
Ante temperaturas de 18 grados bajo cero, un grupo de voluntarios rescató a las tortugas y las alojó en una especie de centro de convenciones.
Este fue adaptado para darles refugio y el calor necesario para su supervivencia. De no ser así, morirían porque no pueden subir a la superficie a buscar un poco de oxígeno.

Actualmente las más de 4,700 ejemplares de tortugas marinas se encuentran resguardadas en un centro de rescate a la espera de su liberación cuando vuelva el clima cálido.
Un video grabado muestra a los voluntarios colocando cuidadosamente a los animales en un carrito y el piso del recinto cubierto de tortugas de todas formas y tamaños.
Fueron colocadas en recipientes de plástico y tratan de imprimir calor en el edificio para lograr la temperatura óptima que les permita sobrevivir.
Además se enfrentan a la misma situación que millones de texanos: sin electricidad, se han quedado sin calefacción.
La tormenta polar no solo congeló el aire, sino también el agua potable y la del océano.
Y aún hay quien duda de la crisis climática.
