Garrapatas en el oído de un niño en Yucatán ¡Cuidado!
La Dirección de Salud del Ayuntamiento de Progreso atendió a un menor de 10 años de edad quien había presentado molestias en la oreja derecha durante varios días.
Al inspeccionar el oído del niño con un otoscopio, los médicos hallaron partes de insectos. Finalmente terminaron extrayéndole cuatro garrapatas vivas.
Para esto el niño recibió un tratamiento antibacterial.
Las autoridades de salud instó a hacer conciencia sobre las implicaciones que tiene convivir con mascotas, especialmente perros y gatos. Sobretodo en esta época de pandemia en el que la relación es más estrecha. Debe quedar claro que estos animales son transmisores frecuentes de garrapatas y parásitos intestinales a humanos si no se tienen los cuidados debidos.
Hoy en día en épocas de pandemia, la convivencia con nuestras mascotas es muy estrecha por lo que existe un vínculo que se adquiere de los animales a los seres humanos, en el caso de los animales domesticos (perros y gatos) los parásitos mas frecuentes que se puede transmitir son las garrapatas y parásitos intestinales.
Se señaló que después de los mosquitos, las garrapatas son altamente eficaces en la transmisión de bacterias, virus, protozoos y nematodos que afectan tanto a los animales como a las personas.
Al respecto, la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) indica que el 60 por ciento de las enfermedades infecciosas de los humanos se transmiten de animales hacia las personas.
La recomendación es que si se tienen mascotas se debe ser un dueño responsable. Se debe llevar un control integral de plagas, así como fumigaciones en el área donde los animales habitan dentro de las casas.
Del mismo modo es necesario emplear medicamentos vía oral o inyectable en las mascotas para el control sanitario de plagas.
